Our Tampines Hub

Integrated Green Infrastructure

Our Tampines Hub (OTH) is Singapore’s first integrated community and lifestyle hub comprising a total of 12 government agencies as stakeholders. In line with OTH’s programs and facilities serving the community, the landscape design is geared towards creating multiple layers of pleasant spaces inside the building, for example through multiple sky terraces.

The East-West Spine – the main pedestrian thoroughfare connecting Tampines St 82 and Tampines Ave 5 – incorporates a myriad of shade-tolerant plants within its 5-storey high atrium. Umbrella trees, as well as Ficus sp and palm species, provide a lush setting for seating and event areas. The focus of the East-West Spine is the musical fountain at its Central Plaza that delights adults and children alike during events.

The Community Garden on the fifth storey is another venue for community engagement through horticulture. Following universal design principles, there are higher planters to facilitate easier reach by the elderly as well as specially-designed planters for wheelchair users. Another element is the 1km-long indoor jogging track – a convenient all-weather amenity.

With OTH’s location amongst public green such as Tampines Eco Green, Pasir Ris Park, and Tampines Changkat Butterfly Garden, the tree planting and landscape are implemented to encourage greater biodiversity. The single row of street trees has been intensified to triple rows along the boundaries which allow for more tree canopy along the public footpaths with 8 species of native as well as butterfly attracting trees. Notable among these are the native Tampines trees (Streblus elongatus) planted at the OTH entrances – which celebrate the heritage of Tampines area.
